    Dawn

A new day begins with darkness.
    Stillness surrounding us all.
Quiet are the thoughts of us present,
    awaiting a new mornings call.

The first bits of light slowly peering,
rays beam through a cool mist and fog.
    Warming me, making me wonder.
What, is the source of it all?

    Birds start announcing it's coming.
Wake up, the name of their call.
Hurry they say, you might miss it.
The gift that is given us all.

    A canvas of beautiful colors.
It's spectrum so bright and alive.
Dawn breaks with all of it's wonder.
Night's stars and a full moon will hide.

I loved this poem the first time I read it. Makes me want to take my coffe out on the front porch and watch the sun come up. Beautiful. TS

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
