Does any remain?

    Does any remain?

    So much I have invested.
    Yet, wasted! None cherished!
I've only been used and tested.
All I've given just instantly perished!

    LOVE!

    Does any remain?
    Deeply, for it I yen.
    But so afraid I refrain.
    Will I feel it again?

    LOVE?

To me she was all that mattered.
How could she throw what was so good away?
She left my heart cold, bruised and battered.
A year has passed, but I'm hurting still today.

    LOVE.

Is it only attainable for the wealthy?
Well today it cost a pretty penny.
    Lonelyness doesn't seem too healthy.
Strangely I wonder if I still have any.

    LOVE.

    Overpowered by greed and deceit.
Too many times a word misused.
Does that wedding ring come with a receit?
A word of doubt when used, for it is often abused.

    LOVE?

I feel blinded cause I can't seem to find it.
    Hardly even true among mates.
Will I ever allow myself to be so binded.
Yet I'm so burned out of so many dates.

    LOVE.

    Does any remain?
It burdens my heart and put a strain on my brain.

    LOVE!

Really good! Look to yourself and find love there first and the rest will follow.

    Thanx. True indeed.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
