    Earthquake

    Earthquake

I am an earthquake; I resound
    I shift and move
My fault line is in the center
Between tears of pain and joy
I tremor with despair and sweat with dew
    You cannot see the inside
    In there I don’t move

    Cycles are amid me
When I will tremble with fear
    Causing the ground to shake
    I am in such despair
    The ruins of the day
    Left in utter defeat
Become the seize of the day
Only captains at sea will brave

    You cannot see my fear
It is aligned with all that is near
It surrounds me in my turmoil
    It coats the Earth’s soil

Yet one day I will rise again
Oer’ the mountain tops and Glens
    You will see my victory
Beyond the forests and the trees
    Look within the sunset
To the rainbow colors and violet subset

    The stars they tell~
Of quakes before the somber fell
Over the seas and through the years
They say it with words you cannot hear

The voice within which cannot hear
Will be like the story that has passed oer’ the years
    In times of colony
    In times of arrival
They saw the day, they saw it coming
    Their glorious day of wind
    Unwinding and glory flowing

    So too will I see
The day when glory is to be
All will notice my fault line through the mid
And say what a beautiful scar ~
    The sojourn let us in

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

    Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
