    Facade

I once looked upon a star
    and felt its glow touch
upon my facade then into my deep

    So alien it was
to all but the boy lost inside
that in reflex I turned away

    It's warmth remained though
and like an ember gently kindled by the spirit from
which it was borne, over time became a fire

    A soul once lost
has found its way home...to you

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.

John F. Kennedy (1917-1963) Thirty-fifth President of the USA
