Fall Back Into My Life

Fall Back Into My Life

I grew used to having you around.
You sat behind me in band practice, and I sat behind you in English class.
Talking to each other trying to make the other one laugh.
The stupid things we did, playing cards on the bus, camping up north.
Eight years of hanging out, going to the movies, driving around town.
Everything fell away.
You fell out of my life and out of my heart.
The memories wont leave.
They flood my mind like you once flooded my life.
All those years of lies, fake smiles, and empty touches.
And all I want is for you to fall back into my life.
Make me laugh again, take my hand and show me it wasn’t nothing.
Make my heart feel whole once again, let me fall into your heart.

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
