    Fear of Loss

I'm afraid to lose my inspiration
I'm afraid to lose my muse
And though I know it's about dedication
This pain is worse than real abuse

For the hurt is not physical
It's on a whole 'nother plane
I'm afraid to lose what's meaningful
As my childhood burns in flames

The dreams of a child are crucial to success
Though they seem just a sad wives' tale
The fantasies grow into passions we supress
As they get torn asunder by the evil that prevails

I'm afraid to lose what's good in life
I'm afraid to lose my chance
For once in this struggle, once in this strife
I might lose what makes me dance

Poetry is finer and more philosophical than history; for poetry expresses the universal, and history only the particular.
