Firelight

  • Well, here goes nothing. Really. I'm not doing anything.

Firelight

Crackle crackle crackle, goes the fire in its bowl.
Cricket cricket cricket, goes the hopper in the dark.
The sounds of love and fam'ly echo deep within my soul,
And when the sun shall rise so shall the graceful meadow lark.
I see no stars for lack of sky, down within my post.
Trees' green leaves now block my view, or else their quilted needles.
Darkness veils, shadow reigns where light is needed most,
And embers dance into the night, crawling like the beetles.
The flames that roared have died away and left the homely soft ones,
Leaving crackling, crinkling coals down beneath the logs.
Dying fire's one desire is to be fueld often,
So another log is placed to dispell nightly fogs.
Now the smoke has taken shape and burns within my eyes,
Forcing me to shield my face with my well-tempered arms.
New fire makes dark yield to light as it meets its demise,
And now my hope and faith in God must keep me out of harms.
Now the smoke has moved away and clear air reclaims birthrights,
But darker sky now does defy the flick'ring fit of flame.
My trust is strength; I trust the Lord to warm me on a cold night,
But no more sun; night has begun, my trust I must now tame.

This is very interesting, I like the solitude, and peacefullness of this. Calm, and the nature makes it relaxing, ty WS

In science one tries to tell people, in such a way as to be understood by everyone, something that no one ever knew before. But in poetry, it's the exact opposite.

Franz Kafka (1883-1924) Czech writer.
