For This Was I Born (c)
Maybe it was to preachOr maybe it was to sing
Maybe it was to make you laugh
With the joy I bring
Maybe it was to shout out loud
Or simply just to stand
All I know is that I was born
To have a mic in my hand.,,,
For This Was I Born (c)
Maybe it was to preachPoetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.
Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
