Forevermore

For so long have I hidden my heart away,

But there’s this lingering voice,

That asks me to stay,

Feelings come rushing back, my heart taking over, I have no choice.

A multitude of times have I been given false hope,

For once, I want it to be real,

To throw unnecessary cautions against the slope,

To believe in something so surreal,

To completely devote.

To be able to cherish moments of laughter,

Neither turning around nor looking back at sorrow,

Forever, in my heart, ever after,

Without worrying about tomorrow.

So now, I’m going to give it my all,

Close my senses and see the world though yours,

Let my heart be the call,

No more secrets, no more lies.

Just you and I forevermore.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
