The Unnecessary Chat RoomThe fact that so much money, effort, and time, has gone into building and then upgrading the "Chat Room" is, in my opinion, really disturbing when there are so many "high priority kinks" on this site that should have had "top priority status". The chat room brings nothing of poetic importance, or user comfort, to this poetry site. And it's pointless to be redundant about what really needs to be improved to make this site efficient so that our time here is not wasted, and the chat room is a waste of time when our time should be spent reading, rating, and commenting on poetry and not on: "So, what did you have for dinner?", along with the other pointless conversations I have witnessed in Chat. I do not know the Administrators, so this in not personal, but their focus seems a bit blurred or not clearly laid out as to what makes a site work to benefit all. The Chat Room benefits very few. |

Re: The Unnecessary Chat RoomAs per my post yesterday http://www.originalpoetry.com/forum/view/topic/topic_id/434 we are working on main site features. The chat just happened to get done first. We had to implement a new chat system because the old one was a heavy load on out servers. We believe that the chat will be a very viral part of the site once we have time to add features to it. We have a couple neat ideas where users can share poems in chat. Along with being able to communicate through the whole site if you wish to. Last edited by clips401 05-06-2009 at 01:49:21 PM |

Re: The Unnecessary Chat RoomSorry Clips, I have to agree with the other two. In my opinion, entended features on chat aren't needed now, but its done. I don't care for chat myself. I'm sure the people who use chat will enjoy it. The other improvements are eagerly awaited. I sure the powers that be know their targeted audience. Be well and thanks for listening to your poets, ken |

Re: The Unnecessary Chat RoomIt would be nice if the glitch in the system which prevents me from sending friend requests or personal messages could be remedied. I think the site community would be better served by adding alerts for new comments and possibly alerts for new poems posted by friends. |

Re: The Unnecessary Chat Room i am not surprised that those who posted about chatrooms as being unnessery feel the way they do, as it is a two way form of communication that a lot of writers are not used to, it is easy to set up your own account, post some writings and rate others from the safty of being not in immediate direct communication, , chat rooms are not new by any means, that ham radio operators dx'ed (plus a lot of other jargon (and still d0 |

It's not that the site is broke its that they have decided to remove their account. When someone removes their account we have to remove all of the poems with it.
