There are plenty of styles of writing to chose from on OP

I had posted this Jezzy….
I know that most will say, "If you don't like 'em, don't read 'em."
The only problem with that declaration is, I have to at least begin to read
something before I realize that I don’t like it.

Papa, I do not discriminate…….A choice is a choice. I never said that
dark poetry should not be allowed on this sight, nor did I say that soft
delightful poems should be the only poetry here on OP.

From the bleachers black with people, there went up a muffled roar,
Like the beating of the storm-waves on a stern and distant shore.
"Kill him! Kill the umpire!" shouted someone from the stands;
And it's likely they'd have done so, had not gogant raised his hand.....

RE: Where have all the gentle poems gone....???

I think people should write what they feel regardless of who gets offended. I am not good with writing dark poetry because i don't have a lot of dark experiences but some of our friends here can only express this through their writing. The only thing I will say is write from the heart no matter the content but dont write to follow the crowd. I am sensing a lot of that going on. Other than that, stay true to who you are and if the readers don't like it then oh well! On a different note, if you want to read gentle poetry then take a look at mine from time to time. I offer a little bit of every emotion you could possibly imagine.

Have a great day everyone and remember, poetry is about freedom and self expression.

Stay true to who you are.

As many of you have discovered, the Ode to Cars series is a reaction to the deepest part of my brain that is being influenced by my surroundings. As a result of this forum, 7 has been released.

Gogant, you'll find this gentle.

RE: Where have all the gentle poems gone....???

I just wanted to say that I don't think this post was offensive in any way, and if people take it that way, then that is their choice. But, I do not understand why it would be offensive to ask such a question. I just think gogant was being honest and asking sincerely. I love what was written by one of the commenters here: Voice your dis-satisfaction without fear of insult, Disagree to agree, but do not retreat, but rather to stick to your poetic guns.

I understand gogant's post and I am not on here enough to know what the majority of the poems are like. I have not written any dark pieces but I just don't have it in me or it is not my style or passion to write about. Take care everyone!

I never discriminate against any of the genres. I thought it was nice that everyone was celebrating the season.

Thanksgiving in the United States is coming up in 3 weeks. I expect those types of poems will now be elevated.

hmmm... well i guess some of my poems are gentle, except my early ones... i just find that talking about real-life is easier. I mean, i go through stuff everyday. its not always fluffy and soft. sometimes its down right scary. ~Audrey

RE: Where have all the gentle poems gone....???

I am honestly quite surprised at the backlash that this forum received and sorry I didn't find it when it was at it's peak of discussion. Still I feel I have to say my piece.

Shame on all of you for blasting Gogant. He has said nothing derogatory about any particular type of poetry. I read this topic as a musing of sorts I guess you could say.

While if anyone has read any of my poems, and I know a few of you have Gogant included, I am not a happy go lucky poet. I write of sadness and loss but everytime that Gogant has commented it has always been constructive and inspirational.

You're a peach, Mayuna, and I do so much enjoy your works of poetic beauty.
Dano……..Sounds like a good thing to do…….read a good ol' poem
that has to do with a family-loving time of year…….Now, if we could
only get those turkeys in a good mood, things would really be spiffy.

Why did the turkey cross the road ????
