    Friend

As confusion swirls around in my head,
I reflect back on the things that were said.
Words that stab repeatedly at my heart,
    Chipping away, tearing me apart.
Said in an instance, forced out by rage,
Letting our anger out of its cage.
Both needing comfort yet causing such pain,
Taking steps backwards with nothing to gain.
Now we sit in silence not knowing what to do.
You look at me and I at you.
Embarrassed of our behavior just moments before,
We quickly say "sorry" as we head for the door.
Our mood again changes causing a grin,
How odd it is, the way we treat this person we call "friend".

Controlling the burst of emotion is easier said than done. By nature, there are really calm and serene persons who really tried to pause first before reacting to good or bad news. Nice poem. Nice picture. People come and go and only few will stay and be cherished / remembered... friends.

In science one tries to tell people, in such a way as to be understood by everyone, something that no one ever knew before. But in poetry, it's the exact opposite.

    Franz Kafka (1883-1924) Czech writer.
