Friendship: The Abuse
We all have relationships that are bonding And occasionally we have some remorse At the fact that the partnership wasn’t what it use to be And there come the clouds of divorce But when your relationship becomes dysfunctional And is based upon accusations and fear What good is remaining with verbal abuse And wasting all of those precious tears It is hard for a friend to be totally fair minded When it’s sanity and trust that’s at stake For I see the abusive relationship coming But can’t seem to move from it’s wake. So I decided to give some distance Hoping that would do the trick But the sound and tone in my friends voice Told me she was getting tricked Should I stand my ground as true friend would do Or should I simply state some facts Would the jealous lover even pay attention Or would she simply sit back and relax As true life would have it the temperament turned And as a friend I was attacked For both parties felt that I was the problem And as a friend I should not have lacked Such things as a sense of decorum Such things as a sensitivity to rights Such things as my friendship must not have emoted Such things as “good G-d get a life!” Well a lesson was learned and a friendship was lost All during a steamy summer And the mistakes that were made Have not gone away They’ve just rallied and made us that much strongerFriendship: The Abuse
