God's Blanket

    God's Blanket

    Our eyes close.

    Darkness consumes us.

    A blanket wraps around us

    Stitched carefully with love,

    Keeping us warm

    From the cold chill

    Of an everlasting night.

    We snuggle beneath

    The blanket’s warmth,

    Like a warm fire burning

    On a cold winter’s night.

    The blanket keeps us warm,

    Keeps us safe.

    Protecting us with His gentle

    Hands, which gave us life.

    For in His arms

    We are reborn.

((This Poem was written in memory of my great Uncle Bill, who passed away earlier this year at the good old age of (I believe 93)))

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
