    Grandpa

    I was thinking today
    About a lot of things
Mostly how much I miss you
And how I didn't get to say goodbye
Or how many times I didn't say I love you
I missed out on so much with you
And now I know just how much
I know that you can hear what my heart is saying
But it doesn't seem like enough
I wish I could say it all straight to you
Face-to-face and one day maybe I can
When we can walk together again hand in hand
But for now I will just deal with my heart being my messanger
And tell you I love you the only way I can
    I miss you so much
I am glad that you loved me
Just the way that I am

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
