    HER

Her small pink lips are always shinning with a flavored gloss,
    But she never smiles.
Her green eyes always seem so lost.
She can't see who she is anymore.
    Her cheeks naturally blush,
When the tears rush down to finish her routine.
    Her beauty is astounding,
    But sadly its never seen.
Her heart has been beaten just as she has.
    Her soul has been tortured,
    Yet she still lives.
Her emotions circle through her head and come out as anger.
If she seems uptight around people,
It's not because she is stuck up.
She just has a hard time trusting,
Because all the people she trusted,
    At one time,
    Have now betrayed her.
Her life is unraveling all around her,
As friends die and family lies are revealed.
    She pushes guys away,
But deep down wants one of them to have the guts to stay.
    If you look around,
There will always be someone like her.
Now you know looks can be decieving.
Your love is all she is really needing.
Don't ever ignore a sign of loneliness.
    Who knows,
Maybe a best friend is what you will get out of all this.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
