Holding On
We go through the motions,
Each day a new start,
Seeking our way,
While holding on to our heart.
We play our life’s cards,
The ones we’ve been dealt,
Through past consternations,
Feelings purposely not felt.
We hang on to ourselves,
As best as we can,
Trying to live up,
To everyone’s plan.
We play the game well,
With this one and that,
Not knowing where we’re going,
Seldom knowing where we’re at.
Still the world turns slowly,
On this stage we call life,
So we savor the moment,
Through the joy and the strife.
Our goal is to reach through,
Our turmoil and pain,
Learning life’s lessons,
While not going insane.
Cause life as we know it,
Will go on and on,
So we hold on for dear life,
Before it’s all gone.
