My Last Breath
I sit here tonight,
and wonder what went wrong,
Were you too afraid to let go?
Were you not prepared to go on?
I know that you’ve been through,
A lot in your young life,
I understand the sorrow,
I recognize the strife.
I only wanted to share,
Your battles and your pain,
to show you how much,
your young life has to gain.
You have been through more,
than one person can endure,
but you hold on for dear life,
hoping for a quick cure.
You don’t know about tomorrow,
and what it holds for you,
But you fight the good fight,
and hang on through and through.
You must realize that each day,
is a gift from above,
though the cancer that threatens you,
shows you no love.
But your life is just one,
and you must cherish it until,
your last breath is breathed,
your last moment fulfilled.
Don’t shut me out,
for I care for you so,
I’ll be there through each moment,
through the highs and the lows.
I know that our time,
is fleeting at best,
but I’ll help you get through it,
help you over the crest.
Remember each day,
is a memory for you and for me,
No matter the outcome,
We’ll both someday be free.
From the pain and the heartbreak,
that we’ve come to know,
I’ll hold on to your memory,
and never let go.
