Hope

Hope

I gazed into tomorrow and kept the past at arms length,
bit my tongue and summon all my strength.
Grabbed the bull by the horns and steered him to my destiny,
away from the town I was born that wasn't enough for me.

I smuggled my soul past the guards with transparent lies.
Built a patchwork web of wisdom to make me wise.
They will never understand my struggle just to breathe.
Isolation helped me to pack my bags so I can to leave.

Hope pointed the way as courage grasped my hand,
I set off on my journey away from the sinking sand.
Now with my heart on my sleeve it's my goals I pursue.
I planted my dreams in pastures new.

These dreams that were once broken have grown.
My once scattered vision is etched in stone.
Replacing my hope stands a mighty Oak,
fresh new emotions and insights have awoke.
