I would like to dedicate this poem to:

Everything that makes this world what it is
from the Soda Stream to the pub quiz.
    from the embarrassing tattoo
to waking up with nothing to do.
    To caffeine.
To memory loss of the heavy drinker,
To wisdom and clarity of the obscure thinker.
    Dali and inflammable shell suits,
    To Daniel's roots
    To frog wellington boots.
    Carl Jung, Shang Tusung,
to the lung that squeaks when you laugh,
    a Sunday night bath.
To God and to the Devil,
the bubble in the spirit level.
To the itch in your mind that you can't scratch.
To the truth that you can't catch.
    To the metaphor.
To trapping your fingers in the car door.
    From chicken sandwiches, to stitches.
money, health, dishes, Darth Vader, cowboy hats,
    animals from peacocks the rats.
Gorgonzola, Christmas, the first day at a new job,
    from life to death.
    Vic & Bob.
    The man in the moon.
    baboons.
    The after effects of prunes.
    To chance,
    romance,
    and the Karate stance.
    To fire.
    To ice.
    To shame.
To too many things to name.

    This is for you...

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
