IF I
IF I
If I should live on some corner of this tiny land,
With a light heart, all evil shed away gracefully.
If I sing, it will make my burden light and nimble,
For music has a charm to wipe, our dreary life.
If I speak, I’ll speak only words which are kind,
Mild, but true, without wasting my precious breath.
If I look, I’ll look for good in friends and foes alike,
For every soul has a bit of good to offer others lives.
If I write, I’ll write on, from deep within and listen,
To that guiding light and inner call beyond reason.
If I row, I’ll row ... others boats, yes! Up to heaven,
Though it may be remote but I will someday reach.
If I should die… than think only this of me, that on
Some corner of this land lays a richer dust concealed.
