I'll Try To Be A Mother

I'll Try To Be A Mother

I'll try.

I'll try to find myself in
this mess I recieved.
I learn how to breath,
how to cope with
what I've been given.
I wonder how God missed me
all of those years.
I had no one to guide me,
to love me,
to show me how
to be a Mother
someday.
The one wish I always wanted,
I don't know how to be a Mother.
 She took that chance
from me before
I ever got the opportunity.
All I ever wanted
as a little girl,
was to be the best
Mom I could ever be.
She never taught me
to be the Mother I have
always yearned for.
So I try to learn,
with the help of others
who can finally teach me

To Be A Mother

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
