    I'm Important

    I know I'm important.
    You use me everyday.
You carry me in your pocket.
    So very light I weigh.

    I know I'm important.
    I help you with everything.
    I know every single language.
I'm very smart, don't ya think?

    I know I'm important,
Cause I come in many shades.
    Red, green, blue, and more,
But every now and then I fade.

    I know I'm important,
    But man! This really stinks!
    Ouch! Stop shaking! Stop Pushing!
Can't you see I'm out of ink?

    I know I'm important,
So why am I all alone,
Sitting here in the garbage can,
Next to an old chicken bone?

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
