In The Darkness Haunted

The night finds me
I thought I had forgotten
Am I earning a degree
From this lesson

I thought I had been helped
The solutions made in some science lab
But they are not perfectly developed
And this darkness refreshes every stab

I hate
Why hate
I don't rightly know
Because I was so sure my love could outweigh

I am no longer so sure
I am now every which way by gusts of wind and slipping on sleet
Words that kill and torture
Words asking for an impossible feet

I am a haunted house
A beautiful love, two beautiful lovers, once inhabited
Killed in cold blood
Now the boards constantly creak and the very foundation on up tormented
Still the house remains undetected as a scare
People think it just another cozy home
Strolling by with an approving stare
But the truth they do not share
No, the spook none try to fathom

You are a strong writer but this almost sounds like two different poems or the house metaphor should come firsts. Hope this didn't offend because you are a good writer. Sally

No, thank you. It is true. It kinda randomly spurted out of me in the end of writing it. I kinda felt like it was an abrupt change, but I just left it so.

A very dark and moody poem. I don't know whether to take this literally, the haunted house, that is, or metaphorically. If it is a metaphor, is it one of yourself? Either way the imagery is beautifully crafted.

Thank you very much. I wrote it with the feeling of me metaphorically being the house, but the poem is more than just me now so anyway it is taken would be justified. The beauty of art.

You're a very talented writer don't ever stop! One of my favorites

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
