Infatuation

We had something special between you and me
You entered my soul and set me free
But if you didn’t feel the same as I do
You shouldn’t of done that, this you knew
in my heart you’re in a frame
But in reality I know it’s not the same
I tremble the moment you enter my sight
And lay awake thinking of you long through the night
I wish you would just tell me the way you feel
So if it’s not the same, I can begin to heal
What I’m feeling I can’t explain
And not being with you drives me insane
So if you and I aren’t going to be
Then reality is all I need to see

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
