    Just A Dream

As I sit here in the dark
I see a vision from the past
I can make out some soldiers
    Then there's a cannon blast

    It seems so real
That I nearly jump right out of my skin
Then I see the ghostly soldiers
    Marching towards me again

    I try to move
    But, I'm frozen with fear
I can only just watch them
As they draw ever so near

Then a captain points at me
And pulls a gun from his waist
    Puts his Navy Colt revolver
    Right in my face

    As he pulls the trigger
I let out a blood curdling scream
Then I find myself in the dark again
And think that this must have just been a dream

Poetry is not the expression of personality but an escape from personality.
