    JUST A REFLECTION

    The mirror never lies.
Each time you have a doubt,
just go and check yours out.
    The mirror never lies.
It tells me when I have a bad hair day,
when my make up is all messed up.
It lets me know when something in my appearance is wrong.
    The mirror never lies.
I sat in front of it for most of my life.
Always checking how I look on the outside,
but never truly could see what I look and felt in the inside.
    The mirror never lies.
It never showed what I hold within-
    the anger and the resentment.
The only thing that was shown was just my reflection.
A reflection that lacks any facial expression.
It never showed how alone and unprotected I've felt at times.
The need of love and the feeling of being wanted that I lust.
The mirror never lies, but it does hide.

Poetry is not the expression of personality but an escape from personality.
