Kendra's Start ...a memorial

How would they know?
So long ago, steady, determined Nature--
the Creator's skillful, active hand--
would bring the universe together
and make a child with endearing demands.

Man and woman walk with clasping hands,
a squeak in the floor,
the bolt's "click", the closed door,
the silent house.
How would they know--
the God who made the world,
would want to make something more.

It really started as they walked,
and the blue sweet air lifting their gaze

to see a sparrow singing perfectly

They stop, and tell their hurried time,
"we'll listen to natures' rhyme."

They sense the dying winter
and feel the chilly, wistful wind.
They see the trees and pine tops sway,
and hear their rustled bend.
All performed ensemble,
healing their inward fray.

God’s nudge or random acts of love,
the sparrow sings another
that lightens their worried, busy minds.
The man smacks his hands  from a reach far and wide,
and summons some brief dance
only he could contrive.
The woman turns her musing gaze,
and waves her head in unbelief
--his shake was no mistake,
but smiles to his relief.

His spry walk, their clasping hands,

God saw it long ago…

and graced it in his plans.

How could she know,
God put that twinkle in his eye?

Thank you God for putting the wind in the trees,
the rustle in the leaves,
and the song in the sparrow.
Thank you for stopping a man and woman,
And making a mom and a dad.
Thank you for using them
to create your gift for the world to see.

Thank you for the child that touched our hearts,
and filled all our lives.
Thank you for this beautiful world,
that you so loved,
and sacrificed for;
that gave us space and time,

and helped us make the memories
that filled our years,
and gave her soul a place to grow,
so she could be ready for you.

Thank you for giving us Kendra,
a life so dear,
and helping us know,
--you are still near.

Uncle Timmy
