Poem Commentary

This poem took a lot for me to write. I cried while writting it. It is for the Lead Singer of the Grunge and Alternative band Alice in Chains. He is my biggest inspiration. His life ended too soon and it makes me cry even thinking about it.

Layne Staley.

Layne
My dear friend I never knew,
Every breath I take is in remembrance for you.
Your soul shown through every word you sang,
When you died, I felt your pain.
I heard it rained that day, the mournful heaven cry
I'll miss your smiling face,
The glimmer in your eye.
Your voice so full of passion,
Of fear and love and hate,
Your heart a sea of sorrow beaten into waste
I'll stroll amongst it never knowing why they laugh at your disgrace.

Rest in peace brother Layne.

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
