Limitations of a Bicycle

Limitations of a Bicycle

Ride your bike, child
Go on and ride it away
Never able to ride quite fast enough
To escape this fiendish place
Where no makeup is plentiful enough
To hide the bruises on her face
She can't stop screaming
Won't stop screaming
Make it all go away
Ride your bike, Child
Go on and ride it away
Feet to the pedals,
Little legs just pumping
To get the image out of her head
The one where her mother's jumping
Out of their apartment window
On the seventeenth floor
She couldn't ride away from it
And couldn't take anymore
Ride your bike, child
Go on and ride it away
the child is left with mere images
And nightmares that feel to real
A seven year old now lost in the world
And desperately trying to deal
So she pedals, and doesn't care
Where she's going
Her whole body has gone cold
Like the life stopped flowing
And her tiny spirit is seeking resolution
In this life of disappointment
And painstaking illusions
She rides
Go on and ride your bike child
While you can, ride away

I really like this poem. has a good point tells a stoty, nice rythm

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
