Looking inside

I went down to the water one day

to search inside my heart

I just needed to get away

and make a brand new start

To gather all my thoughts and see

just what I wanted to do

If this is where I should be

or look for something new

The sun was warm upon my face

and the breeze blew through my hair

I found a quiet peaceful place

and my mind just took me there

I realized that where I am

was just where I should be

And that the person I am

is deep inside of me

Now I know that all my dreams

stay with me all the while

And no matter how life seems

I'll face it all with style

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
