    Magical Mystery

I was a normal child you see full of questions, but unlike most

    I didn’t want to know

    Why is the sky blue?

    Why is the grass green?

No, I wanted to know what made the storms

    What makes the thunderstorms?

I once asked a very special man

    What makes the sky rumble?

    What makes the lightening?

What makes the wind and rain?

The answer is quite a tale you see the answer is a Magical Mystery

Time stood still for me and my daddy

Watching and listening was my mommy

Come sit on my knee I scramble up

Listen hear it far in the distance, I give a nod

    It is them,

Them I ask soft and low my eyes growing big

Yes, them Gods herd of wild ponies

The rumbling grows louder as they draw near

They are going to stay a while today

Wild ponies I whisper he nods a smile on his lips

A shiver shakes me he cradles me close against him safe

    Let’s watch them run

Hear the thunder and there see the lighting

It is their hooves striking the top of the clouds

The wind picks up rippling my curls my tiny hand in his

The wind is them running by

    The heavens open up

The rain my dear is the sweat running from their coats

Though only a story from my childhood

It is what I see the Magical Mystery

I love the storms to this day I watch the beauty unfold

Remember the answer the storms are Gods heard of wild ponies on the run

The past bumping into the here and now and once again

I am a child innocent and safe forever in the arms of love

I watch the Magical Mystery unfold

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.
