    Mask

    Mask

I have many faces sometimes I wear for fun,
I use them to cover the way I feel bet you don't know everyone.
I've done this since I was a child at first to be tuff,
Who would of ever thought that growing up could be so ruff.
The first face I learned to put on was that of a Soldier boy,
to cover the tears I cried when daddy broke my toys.
the second face I learned to put on was painted red and gold,
Red for the anger and rage I had, gold to cover the bruises i'd hold.
As I grew older I collected more Faces each and every year,
Different types to cover my to corver up my shame and fear.
it's unfortunate these faces I used to hide the real me,
It's not becauseI'm hideous thats for you to judge and see.
More to protect, better just to hide, this little boy.
Whose been hurt for so long and no one understands why.
Its hard I tell you to let one person realy know,
It's even more scary that you're the one person I want to show.
If you just give me one chance, I promise one day you will see,
This man without the mask and the little boy who resides in me.

Beautiful poem and truthful true. Some of us live with masks that we collect through the years....
