    Memories of Them

    I never got to hold them,
    or press their cheeks to mine...
    They said things would get better,
    That I 'd forget in time...
    But this pain is here to stay,
    it never goes away...
    I knew when their life begin,
    For seven months I felt them grow,
    With movements from with in...
    As I walked down to the nursery,
    to see them through the glass;
    I knew they would not make it,
    Their life was fading fast...
    With empty arms I left that place,
    Their daddy by my side...
    Now many years have come and gone;
    So many tears I've cried...
    Now my heart has finally mended...
    But every Sept.5th, I go back to that day,
    Sometimes I hear them as they run and play...
    I will always remember just what they meant to me
    As I wonder just what would their life be...

    Poetry is not the expression of personality but an escape from personality.
