I am so delinquent
In checking my voice mails at home...
---- fourteen,
Pull up a chair.
In the midst of all the hum-drumery, though,
The consistently inconsequential monotones
of the generally unimportant,
There it is...
---- bam
The always unexpected voice,
The only mortal voice
I've ever known
That could actually touch me,
telling me
Of sweet, summer breezes
and birdsongs,
All from the fringes
of a lazy, hazy summers morning nap...
---But---
Through the lift and the lull
of your soulful, sensual whispers,
You know what I heard?
I heard...I was there.
In the breeze that kissed your face,
the songs that caressed your ears,
the slumber that feathered your body,
---I was there
With you, within you
Even before you dialed the number...
And you know what?
I think I take a certain amount
of twisted pleasure
in that...
