Mommy, where is Iraq?
My baby asked today
I told her it's a place far, far away
She looked at me and said, "Is daddy there today"
I tried not to cry when I looked her in the eyes
And told her that her daddy was on his way there today
I didn't think this day would come so soon,
when my baby wants to know just where her daddy's gone

Just how would I explain to her what he went to do?
I took her up in my arms and told her that it's ok
Her daddy went to war to try to save the day
I let her know he loves her and didn't want to leave
I tried to tell her that he's with her each and every day
But how do you tell a baby that he had to go away
I know that she wants to understand everything I say
I looked and her and wished that this day had never come,
the day that her daddy was sent a way to war.


Today is the day I have wished would never come
The day that I found out that my baby's going home
To live for a while with people she hardly knows
People that love her no matter where we go
Today is the day that I have to tell her true
That mommy's going to deploy to that place where daddy stays
I have to let her know that she is going to be safe
She is the only reason that mommy wants to stay
I know that I have to go to help her daddy out
We have to do this so that she has a house
I don't' know how to tell her that we won't be home soon


Today is the day that I left my baby's side
I know that I can do this that's why gods on my side
I have a lot to do to help her daddy out
I wish that she knew how much she means to us
If it weren’t for our baby we wouldn't be the same


Today is the day that the war will end
I know that we are going to have a party then
I know that we have to do this till the end
We have to make sure that our baby is going to be there
We wouldn't have done this if it weren’t for our little girl
She is the one that make our blood run through our soul
I know that she is safe now that we have made it home for her.
