    Mother Dearest

My life is what it is today,
    Because of your loving care.
You accepted me when God asked,
Giving me life and the hope of Love.

Your Loving care growing day by day
    Changing dirty diapers,
    Soothing the pains and hurts,
Teaching me about life and love.

Bringing me from a baby in your arms,
To a little girl, a young lady,
And then helping me to become a woman,
Never abandoning your love and protection.

Now I have become a woman
And then a mother of one,
And hope I’ve done as good a job with her
As you did bringing me up.

A mothers love is truly blessed,
A gift from God to a baby child.
    I give thanks each day
That you was his gift to me.

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.
