    My Boys

By birth I was blessed with two sons,

they each came at the right time or my life would be gone.

The first came at a time I thought I couldn’t have kids,

but God said let me slow her down, and bam I did.

The second was truly a surprise,

he came and made a dead spirit come alive.

It is because of these two young men,

that the road I use to travel had to come to an end.

Only God could see where I was headed,

as my life was being mislead.

    Today, that number has multiplied,

because others on me for support they too have relied.

I love and treat them as though they were mine,

because I opened my heart when no one else they could find.

They all calls me “mama”, they say that’s my name,

That’s the reason I treat them like mine, all the same.

When they come to me for support I tell it like it is,

I don’t sugar coat it, to them I just keep it real.

I don’t want my boys going through life with blinders on,

so every night I pray that in their lives God’s will be done!

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
