My Sons
Two conceived sons, didn’t think I would have even one
God answered my prayers, Now I live life through theirs
As I watched them crawl, I envisioned them playing ball
Carrying on my name, as I coached them in the great game
Make them learn what I wouldn’t, so they can be what I couldn’t
My knowledge passed two lad’s, take my good learn from my bad
I see potential in the eyes of these guys, their limits have no skies
Let me mold, nurture and care, take what your Dad has to share
You must be wishfully driven, waste not the talent you where given
Because life is unforgiving, there is no such thing as reliving
Don’t dream lives you could’ve lived, live lives you couldn’t dream
God gave you the talent you possess, so realize you have been blessed
And stand up to his test, because this is your quest, so do your best
You have my esteem, be all you can be, make me boast of my team
I love you two even though I scream, you make me so proud I beam
Your lives have just begun so forget the stars and reach for the sun
Give life a good run, never be outdone, two minds are better then none
So stick together as one, son to son, never let your friendship be undone
I’m here if you need me each one, you will never be shunned my sons
I’ll guide you both, as I monitor your growth, this is your Dad’s oath
So when you both become of age, remember I tried to be your sage
Forget what I said in times of rage, the truth is within this rhymed page
I lived my life to the left of your stage, this I did not for the wage
But for the pride I felt in all that you engaged
Love you both,
Dad
