    Ode to Shirley

    Ode to Shirley

Birds make their presence known, resolute in intent,

We develop knowledge, with confidence in hand,

    Comfort arises with friendship.

You have taken space, otherwise unfilled

Calmness in your search, protective to control

The unknown. The path of least resistance

Is commonly taken. Alone you are not, as both are

    Searching.

Validity is sought, creating unrest. Challenge

What we want, will comfort outweigh?

Easier it is, yet passion yearns. Can it be ignored?

Onward we must go, ever knowing!

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.
