Old Navy - Size 7

You look, I look
we both look, but I
look away - you do not.

I walk forward, jump in, find
bittersweet relief - my lips were chapped.
I don't cross your side, you don't cross mine.

I slip under, wish to let myself go
but can't because letting myself go
would mean being drawn in your direction.

You can't have me anymore, can't have what
you've always sought. So while I'm drowning in my solitude
you settle with taking my flip-flops.

A worthy sacrifice because by the poolside today
your actions have freed me.

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
