ONCE IN EDEN

ONCE IN EDEN

Once in Eden everything was perfect

There was Adam, made in God's own likeness

And his wife Eve, beautiful and flawless

Once in Eden, nothing was amiss

God was pleased with Eden

With the man and woman He birthed

He was happy with the entire Garden

The fauna, the flora; His work was worth it

God told Adam and his mate Eve

To enjoy His blessings and to multiply

He forbade them to pick the forbidden fruit

Lest they eat it and surely die

The old serpent Satan was watching

He surveyed the Garden of Eden

He saw the man, he saw the woman, he saw the fruit of knowledge

And devised a cunning plan

The serpent accosted the woman Eve

He took her to the outlawed tree

He said, "You will not surely die if you eat."

"You will instead be like God, you will be set free!"

Eve, she ate of the serpent's treat

At once she knew wrong from right

She gave the fruit to Adam her mate

He ate it too, with much delight

They then knew pride, they then knew hatred

They then knew they were naked

They hid themselves when God called

Eden was no longer perfect, no longer sacred

That which was once Eden

Is the world we know today

A world filled with sin and evil

A world with which Satan has his way

One day though, maybe not too long from now

When a just God says, "Enough! No More!"

He'll slay the serpent, He'll judge wicked man

And peace and order restore

Then Eden, once without blemish, then tainted

Will be God's Garden once again

He shall dwell among His people

Paradise lost will be Paradise regained

This poem is like a modern version of John Milton's Paradise Lost, it is incredible

Poetry is when an emotion has found its thought and the thought has found words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
