Others before Us
Others Before Us
You, my best friend, a journey we shall take, wrinkles and age lines encased within glossy nails and smooth skin, your hand in mine, a graveled road filled with potholes deep, swollen blisters on the soles of our feet. Stolen helium filled balloons, niacin to make you swoon, liquid LSD on elephant blots, African frogs licked freely, lazily picking psilocybin to go dancing, our youth remembered as we sit under a cannabis tree. Where like others before us we merrily smother the cells that create us, smiling we numb where once was filled with aches, Arching our backs with ecstasy, putting on the sparkly mini dress, just to dance them off on the tables, benches, chairs and bars, we act like Paris Hilton pretty wenches portrayed as stars, but put away the pills, pipes, knives, needles and little rubber bands, it’s time to stand up, it’s time to live, it is time to begin again.
