Paradox

Paradox

Lose your humanity

Leave it at my door

Lock it up in my closet

Let it trouble you no more

Understand the deception

Uncover the lies

Unlock the hidden secrets

Underneath the ties

Gather all your courage

Give me all your fears

Govern your insecurities

Get rid of your tears

Heaven is waiting for you

Hurry to its hall!

Hell is waiting for you

How will you answer its call?

Paradox is an interesting title for this piece. Perhaps it is me but I am unable to see it. There are lines here that are interesting and have me wanting to know more about the voice. I like the "hidden secrets underneath the ties" an image new to me. Then the next three stanza's diminish the cleverness of the preceding stanza and therefore for me the voice seemed lost and on to something else. Would I read this again, no, not in it's current form.

Poetry comes nearer to vital truth than history.

Plato (BC 427-BC 347) Greek philosopher.
