    Peace

I searched for peace to remember you by,
trying to recall what you'd said.
    Wanting to see your face,
    to hear your voice...
In the business of life you faded
    but solitude brings you back.
I embrace solitude much the same way
    we embraced each other.
    I miss you.
    Profound talk, exhuberant laughter,
tears of truth and the knowledge of love
realized in the few short days we were
    together.
I will always search for you
    in the quietness of night,
praying to see the radiant smile you left me.
Wondering why I was left behind
    and where you went...
    on the beaches of Normandy.

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

    Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
