Please Help Me

Please help me,

For I cannot see—

I cannot see in the distance

The fog as it approaches me—

Terror crawls up my spine,

Ghosts of my past resurfacing—

I need help,

Please, help me—

Please help me,

Take me away—

Or at least help me run from here,

From this place that leaves many marks—

All I ask is that you help me,

Would you please?

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
