Dr. Godwin Ode Ikwuyatum is Lecturer in the Department of Geography, Faculty of the Social Science, University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Nigeria, where he has been teaching and carrying out research for the last 9 years.

A native of Benue State in the North Central zone of Nigeria, married to Matilda and has a son Lawson Owoicho.

His major research work has been his analysis of the consequences of migration, in particular, remittances on the wellbeing of left-behind members and on household productive activities in rural areas of origin in Benue State, Nigeria. He employed the Computable General Equilibrium (CGE) Model, to measure the multiplier effect of remittances on household productive activities. The study is one of the foremost researches, in the study of the impact of remittances on the area of origin in Nigeria; and it earned him a PhD in 2006.

He is currently one of the senior investigators in an ongoing study of International Migration, Territorial Re-composition and Development of the borderland of south-western Nigeria and south-eastern Benin Republic.

His area of specialty is population geography; in particular, migration studies (International and Internal). One of his main hobbies is reading and writing poems, which is the fundamental reason for his being part of OriginalPoetry.com
