Biography

La Playa de Santa Fe, Cuba, a small northern beach town East of Havana, is where I spent my early childhood. I like our hot summers best, suffering winter's hawk blowing off the lake as well as any native. Been here a long time, which as far as I'm concerned makes me a Chi-person. I'm the grandmother of many, and the mother of four by nature's way and three by marriage. I have ten gradchildren all together. My two sons both served in the military, the youngest a Marine, the oldest a soldier in the Army. My daughters are amongst my best friends. I like just about everyone I meet. I rather turn off the stupid box, and let my imagination roam as I read. I like to think, which often gets me in a whole lot of trouble, since most people want to simply scratch the surface. Words, and our ability to use them to give concrete form to abstract concepts is what makes us what we are.

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.
