Pretend
Remembers when ...
the sound of his voice brought joy but soon revealed sadness,
the idea of togetherness seemed real and quickly turned unrealistic,
smelling his sent made her smile instead of remembering the bad,
thousands of miles was only a day away not a lifetime of change,
his words felt true yet only hid the truth,
she wanted to be his savior but soon discovered infidelity could not be saved,
the words I Love You turned into hurtful lies,
ideas became promises that were soon broken to create distrust,
a family was possible only because she was loving a lie,
feeling loved was in fact the pull of manipulation,
Remembers when ...
She discovered it was all pretend!
