Pride

I am omnipresent.
In everyone I exist.
I am no one shape or size.
I am not an object in its own being,
but you can notice me.
See me on the face of a veteran who
have served this country strong
Recognize me in the voice of a parent
who will deeply miss their child but
understand why they must go.
I am the heart of a spouse who will be
without their counterpart.
You feel me as the tear of a child that
waves as their parent leave.
You hear me in the words of a leader
that knows he has charge of something
good.
You have let me become the spirit of a
nation that know it wouldn't be as strong
without me.
I am the heart of a soldier that motivates
and encourages.
i am Pride.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
